Yes, the REAL DG is the unlikely love child of this curious duo.

Gemma Collins is the star of the memes that make me laugh (almost as much as ones of people falling over), made famous by reality TV and known for saying it *exactly* like it is. She referred to her public persona as The GC, and made me laugh more when it became the REAL GC, to emphasise her point.

Why REAL DG?

And Priti Patel? Well, one of the misguided ways she alienated the public was, whilst criticising the work of human rights lawyers, denouncing volunteers on life boats by weaponising the term 'do gooder' against them.

At that time I happened to be on a little one woman campaign to reclaim the term Do Gooder - what's so wrong with doing good, if you're doing it well? So, I was selling t-shirts online with 'DO GOODER' written on them and, thanks to a well timed tweet (ah, remember twitter when it was good?), the t-shirts went viral. I sold over a thousand in 24 hours and had to beg my local t-shirt printer to pull an all nighter to help me fulfil the orders that just kept coming in!

To commemorate this strange moment in time my partner, Lewis, started referring to me as The Real DG. It was funny for a moment or two, but the concept and meaning stuck.

A few years later, when it came to naming this business, designed to help businesses Do Good and Make It Work for them, 'REAL DG' simply summed it all up.

If you want a real, no nonsense, fast paced and laser focused approach to ensuring your business is doing good, showcasing the impact you are making and motivating your staff - whilst not draining their time - then the REAL DG is for you.

Send me an email - hello@emmacantrell.co.uk - and we can talk.
